New To Medicare
This is a great place to start...
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people who are 65 years of age or older, as well as for certain younger people with disabilities. If you are new to Medicare, it is important to understand the different parts of the program and the coverage they offer.
The Basics
Medicare has four parts: Part A, Part B, Part C (Medicare Advantage), and Part D.
Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care.
Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient services, preventive care, and some medical equipment.
Part C is an all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare that includes Parts A and B, and often includes prescription drug coverage (Part D) as well as additional benefits like dental and vision coverage.
Part D provides prescription drug coverage.
